Saddle up for Christies
September 2009
Hillserve is proud to have a team of employees so devoted to fundraising. This year the challenge befell Paul Craven, Head of Technical Monitoring at Hillserve who recently took part in the 2009 Manchester to Blackpool bike ride, which raises funds for the renowned Christie Hospital.
For the fifth year running Paul left Old Trafford along with 9000 other riders and headed west towards the Blackpool promenade. After 20 miles a touch of wheels bought down the Hillserve rider and five other people, three of which rode over Paul!
A little battered, Paul continued his ride in memory of his dad and granddad who, despite the best efforts of Christies, succumbed to cancer within weeks of each other. Paul crossed the finish line in Blackpool having raised £770 for Victoria House, an accommodation unit for relatives of Christies’ patients.
The Victoria House Appeal was established by Hillserve’s Rita Green whose daughter was a patient at Christies.
