Spacetherm trial - From Outer Space to Cheshire
What does an astronaut hurtling around the earth at 17,000 miles per hour have in common with the occupants of a terraced house in Middlewhich, a sleepy market town in the heart of Cheshire? The answer is a cutting edge super-insulation material called Spacetherm. The same material that protects a space-walking NASA astronaut from the extremes of temperature is now being used to insulate everyday homes.
When Hillserve were asked to help the owners of an end terrace on Hayhurst Avenue improve the insulation of their property, Spacetherm was the ideal solution, being unique in it’s technology, the thinnest but greatest U value on the market.
Hillserve’s installation team fixed the slim Spacetherm panels directly to the existing wall finishes using standard masonry nails. After they had been taped and filled, just like normal plasterboard, they were ready for finishing. One high-tech product and one installation team later and the result if a simple but, effective and elegant solution.
